Explore the magic of Morocco on a 3 days Marrakech desert tour to the Merzouga Desert. From the breathtaking Atlas Mountains to the color-changing sand dunes of Erg Chebbi, the landscape is breathtaking. Explore the mud-brick fortified Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, the verdant green oasis of Tinghir, and the nearby limestone canyons of Todgha. Our 3-Day Marrakech Desert Tour includes an hour-long camel excursion to watch the sunset and an overnight under the stars at a desert camp situated between Erg Chebbi dunes.
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Marrakech ā Ait Ben Haddou ā Ouarzazate ā The valley of Roses ā Dades Gorges:
3 days Marrakech desert tour departs for the Merzouga desert. As we continue driving over the High Atlas Mountains, we will pass by various Kasbahs or Atlas Berber settlements. We will arrive at Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a notable World Heritage site, after a few hours of seeing the Atlas Mountains You will enjoy a lovely lunch in the Kasbah before continuing to Ouarzazate (Africa’s Hollywood).Ā Many films, including Game of Thrones, were shot in Ouarzazate at the Taourirt Kasbah and Atlas Studios. Next, we’ll head to Skoura and Flowers Valley. We’ll be spending the night at Dades Gorges Hotel.
Day 2: Dades Gorges ā Todra Gorges ā Erfoud ā Merzouga:
After traditional breakfast. In the Dades Gorges, we will next drive via roads studded with historic kasbahs and several picturesque Berber communities. We’ll continue to Tineghir, a beautiful valley filled with date palms. When we walk down theĀ high canyons, we will be surrounded by high walls of grey and pink granite.
Afterwards we’ll go to theĀ Erg ChebbiĀ dunes in Merzouga, Sahara Desert, and you’ll have lunch in Tinjdad. As soon as you arrive at the famed Erg Chebbi dunes, we will take you on a one-hour camel ride to the Tent where a tent is located, where you will be able to watch the sunset in luxury.Ā Nothing beats spending the night in the Merzouga Desert dunes in a bivouac under traditional nomadic tents or outside under the shooting stars. If you like, you may spend the night playing the drums with the skilled camel guide.
Day 3: Merzouga ā Rissani ā Alnif ā The Draa Valley ā Marrakech:
The next fresh morning, you will view the sunrise from the same dunes where you spent the night inside the tent. Return to the hotel for breakfast and a wash. The journey then continues to the vast palm grove of Tafilalet via Rissani, Dra Valley, and Ouarzazate. You’ll have some spare time before lunch. Following there, we’ll return to Marrakech, where our travel guide will be finished. We will transport the customer to their preferred location. As a result, our ofĀ 3 days Marrakech desert tourĀ will be completed.

Going into the Sahara Desert was a truly amazing experience! Riding camels into the desert and seeing the sand dunes is something that I will never forget! When we reached camp, Hassan was there to great us and poured us a cup of tea and brought us some snacks. We had a lot of great conversation with him but were unable to set him up with one of our daughters š The camp was clean with a comfortable bed and a full bathroom!!! Very luxurious!!! The next morning, we had breakfast and then we rode ATVs in the dessert which was an indescribably fun experience. We never had to worry about our luggage, it was waiting for us in our tents when we got to the camp, and it was waiting for us at the van when we rode the ATVs out of the desert. Hassan and his team made this vacation 100% stress free and fun!
The only thing that I wish we would have done differently is I would have spent an extra night or two in the desert instead of just one.

Our time in the Sahara Desert was
the best experience, we will never
forget thanks to Hassan! After our
camel ride to the camp he
personally greeted us with mint
tea and snacks. During our dinner
he sat with us at the table. We
loved that personal touch. He
made us feel at home. We wished
that we had another night at the
camp so that we could have more
intimate experience.
Historically we never go back to
the same place twice, but this is
definitely an experience we would
do again!!!

- How is the climate in the desert of Merzouga?
- From mid-November to the start of March, the weather is chilly at night and mild during the day (Day26Ā°C/Night0Ā°C).
- During the summer (from mid-June to mid-September), both the daytime and nighttime temperatures are warm (Day45Ā°C/Night30Ā°C).
- For the remainder of the year, daytime and nighttime temperatures are nearly identical (between 24 and 30 degrees Celsius).
