9 days Casablanca Sahara desert tour Itinerary
Day 1: Casablanca– Chefchaouen :
When you arrive at Mohamed 5 airport (or your Casablanca hotel), our driver will meet you and start your 9 days Casablanca Merzouga desert tour to Chefchaouen. Before that, there will be a stop at Hassan 2 mosque if you want to visit, otherwise, take a few pictures before driving through the towns of Souk larbaa and Ouazane, then to Chefchaouen, passing by charming views of the Rif mountains. Spend the night in a hotel/riad.
Day 2: Chefchaouen - Fes:
After breakfast, embark on a full-day guided tour of the city with an English-speaking guide to explore the royal city; your tour will begin with the old medina, with its ramparts and narrow streets, which was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1981, as well as the ruins of the Mérinides tombs. You will also see the madrasas Bouanania and Attarine, which were established in the early 14th century, as well as the Karaouine mosque and the Nejjarine marble fountain.
Afterward, it’s time for lunch in a traditional Moroccan restaurant. In the afternoon, you will see the ornate entrance of Boujloud and the royal palace, followed by the souk, where artisans offer their handcrafted gems, leather products, copper artifacts, and ceramics.
Day 3: Exploring Fes:
After breakfast start exploring the oldest city in Morocco with your local guide, roaming in its small streets and alleys. Visit first the seven Royal Palace gates, then the Jewish neighborhood which is the first Mellah built in Morocco during the 14th century. Today you’ll visit all the cultural and historical highlights including the famous Al Qaraouine University, considered the oldest one in the world, the Moulay Idriss mausoleum, and the Tanneries. After a mouthwatering lunch, we visit the tiles cooperative and then experience a wonderful panoramic view over the whole Medina of Fes. Return to your riad overnight in the riad.
Day 4: Fes - Ifrane - Midelt - Merzouga:
After breakfast, we’ll drive to Merzouga. You’ll start at Ifrane, then move on to Midelt and the Ziz Valley. Today you will view the middle and upper Atlas Mountains, and you will stop at the famed cedar forest to watch the monkeys; as we continue our journey,
you will note how the terrain transforms to give clues of the desert as you reach Errachidia. We will stop at Midelt for lunch before continuing up the Ziz Valley, stopping for panoramic vistas along the route to allow you to snap photos. We’ll pass through Erfoud and Rissani. We’ll go to the weekly market here. You arrive at Merzouga at the end of the day. you will be welcomed with a glass of mint tea at your hotel.
Day 5: Tour Around Desert & Camel Trekking:
Following breakfast, we will begin our adventure by visiting the Gnaoua people, who were once slaves imported from Sudan, to appreciate their music and way of life. We’ll travel over the dunes in a 44-vehicle. You will meet nomad families that still live in Berber tents and will learn about their way of life. During lunch, you will have a traditional Berber pizza. Following that, you may have some free time to rest before riding your camel across the dunes of Erg Echebbi in the afternoon. As you arrive at your desert tent, you will dine beneath the stars while listening to Berber music over the dunes.
Day 6: Merzouga - Todra Gorges - Dades Gorges:
Get up early to witness the dawn over the dunes. Following breakfast and a wash, we drive to Erfoud to see the petrified marble industry before continuing on to Touroug and Tinjdad. We’ll have lunch at Todra Gorge. We will proceed to the Dades Gorge via Boumalne.
Day 7: Dades Gorges - Ouarzazate - Marrakech:
Your private trip continues today with a drive towards Kalaat Mgouna and Ouarzazate, regarded as “the African Hollywood”. We could go to the local film studio and the Kasbah while we’re here (Fortress). We’ll next go to Ait Ben Haddou to see the local Kasbah, Morocco’s biggest and a UNESCO World Heritage site. We’ll travel through the High Atlas Mountains until we arrive at Marrakech, where we’ll spend the night.
Day 8: Exploring Marrakech:
Today, after breakfast at your hotel, begin your exploration of Morocco’s red city, Marrakech. Ensures that you view all of the major historical and social attractions, such as the Bahia Palace, Majorelle Gardens, Koutoubia Tower, and Saadian tombs. You’ll eat near or in the plaza before strolling around the souks and admiring various handcrafted pieces. You’ll have time (free) in the evening to explore other sections of the city on your own.
Day 9 : Marrakech to Airport :
At the end of this fascinating tour, we transfer you to the airport for your flight home. the end of your 9 days Casablanca Sahara desert tour.
