Early Morning Departure from Marrakech

Arriving at Ait Ben Haddou

After about four hours on the road, you’ll arrive at Ait Ben Haddou, a ksar (fortified village) made entirely of earthen clay. Set beside the Ounila River, this ancient site is one of the best-preserved examples of southern Moroccan architecture. Its red mudbrick walls and clustered homes make it appear frozen in time.

Ait Ben Haddou was once a stop along the caravan route between the Sahara and Marrakech, used by traders carrying salt, gold, and spices. Today, it’s a living museum and a symbol of Morocco’s desert heritage.
